Two CSI-2 camera connectors

The 96Boards-compliant MAV controller mezzanine now includes connectors for two 5-Megapixel OV5640 camera sensors.

This paves the way for computer vision applications and first person view (FPV) operation on a 96Boards-powered drone. These compact 24-pin connectors replace the 15-pin ribbon connectors found on older versions of the board.

This 5MP MIPI CSI-2 camera sensor is a flex-PCB mounted 5MP camera sensor with auto-focus and on-chip image sensor processor. Connects to host boards via 24-point Hirose DF30FC-24DS-0.4V connectors.

Camera

Thanks to its 2-lane MIPI CSI-2 bus, the KLT-OV5640 can transmit full 1080p HD video at 30 FPS for smooth streaming.

More improvements

Other changes to this robust robotics board include the addition of a buzzer shut-off switch, and the replacing of the Dragonboard’s USB port on the upper edge.
