Retail Orders at www.gumstix.com
The Basics

  1. Any customer purchase that includes 120 computer-on-modules or less is a "retail order".
  1. Each retail order must be placed online at www.gumstix.com, by the customer.
  1. VISA, MasterCard and American Express credit cards accepted.
  1. Purchase orders or telephone orders are not accepted by Gumstix.
  1. Customers wanting to make a purchase using a purchase order may want to consider one of the "value add resellers" listed here: http://www.gumstix.com/resellers.
  1. After a customer has placed their order at www.gumstix.com , their credit card is "authorized" for the total cost of that order by Authorize.net.
  1. The customer credit card is NOT charged at this time by Gumstix
  1. Gumstix does not see or retain any customer credit card numbers.Gumstix does not see or retain any customer credit card numbers.
  1. Any customer or reseller wishing to purchase Gumstix technology without paying California state tax must contact sales@gumstix.com BEFORE placing an order at www.gumstix.com.

Discounts

  1. Discounts for Gumstix products can only be obtained through a purchase that includes at least 120 COMs.
  2. Gumstix does not offer education specific discounts.

Pre-sales: Prices, stocking levels and shipping costs
  1. Before making a Gumstix purchase, a customer can determine the following easily and without charge:

    1. Product prices
    2. Stocking levels
    3. Shipping costs

    by adding one or more Gumstix products to their shopping cart at www.gumstix.com and adjusting each product quantity to the amount desired.

Order Shipment

  1. Gumstix ships each retail order once, with all products of that order.
  1. Each retail order is planned to be shipped by Gumstix:
    1.  On the same or next business day, or
    2. Within fifteen (15) business days - if the "back order" symbol appears in the customer shopping cart at the time of order placement.

Note that weekends and US holidays are not counted as business days.

  1. Once the retail order is picked, packed & shipped by Gumstix:
    1. Gumstix uses the authorization code to charge the customer credit card
    2. An email with UPS tracking information is sent to the customer.
*If a retail order is not shipped within thirty (30) days, then the authorization code will have expired and that order cannot be processed. Customers with an expired order should contact sales@gumstix.com.

How to Cancel a Retail Order
To cancel a retail order that has not yet shipped, send an email to sales@gumstix.com.

Note that California law allows the card to be charged only once the order has been shipped. As such, a credit is not needed to be issued to a customer credit after an order is canceled as the customer credit card was only authorized but not charged for that order.

Partial Shipments
As each order at www.gumstix.com includes one shipment charge, only one shipment can occur per order.

A single order at www.gumstix.com cannot be fulfilled by multiple, partial shipments. Customers wanting multiple shipments need to place multiple orders at www.gumstix.com.

Tip: To get multiple shipments, place a first order at www.gumstix.com that includes only products "in stock" as they are not marked with the out of stock . Then, place a second order at www.gumstix.com that includes the products marked with the out of stock , indicating that these products are currently on "back order".

Volume Orders (120 COMs or more)

Obtaining a Quote for a Volume Order:
Note: Each volume order for Gumstix products is NCNR (non cancellable, non returnable)
  1. If you do not already have an account at www.gumstix.com , establish an account here.
  2. Then, to obtain a quote for volume order, send an email to sales@gumstix.com indicating
    (1) your desired Gumstix product(s)
    (2) quantities of each product.
    (3) whether buildroot or Gumstix openembedded should be preloaded on the COMs in your order.
  3. A quote will be emailed to you within two (2) business days.
  4. Once Gumstix, Inc. receives your 35% order confirmation payment, this quote is turned into a "volume order".
  5. See the payment schedule section below for further information about this order confirmation payment and the pre-shipment payment.
Lead Time for a Volume Order:
  1. Typically, a volume order takes 4-8 weeks to be completed from that date on which the order confirmation is received by Gumstix, Inc.
  2. The 65% pre-shipment payment will be requested by Gumstix Sales just prior to the completion of the product manufacturing and testing.
  3. Once this pre-shipment payment is received by Gumstix, Inc. and the manufacturing & testing has been completed, the volume order will be shipped to the customer.

Options:

 1. Pre-flash of Customer Code
During the volume build process, Gumstix can pre-flash customer code on each Overo or verdex pro COM.
  1. Cost for pre-flashing is $0.70 per COM.

Note that the serial console port output should be "enabled" in customer code for our testing purposes during the Gumstix manufacturing process.

2. Custom Component Specification
In a volume order, the price of a computer-on-module can be reduced by requesting that Gumstix not install a specific component(s) as follows:

• Do not install the 27-pin J5 connector Reduce list price by $1.45
• Install only one u.fl antenna port (need only Bluetooth or 802.11g) Reduce list price by $0.80

In a volume order, the price of an expansion board can be reduced by requesting that Gumstix not install a specific connector(s) as follows:

• Do not install USB miniB connector Reduce list price of expansion board by $0.30
• Do not install USB miniAB connector Reduce list price of expansion board by $1.00
• Do not install USB miniA connector Reduce list price of expansion board by $1.00
• Do not install HDMI connector Reduce list price of expansion board by $0.75
• Do not install LAN connector Reduce list price of expansion board by $2.00
• Do not install wifi module connector Reduce list price of expansion board by $1.75
• Do not install power connector Reduce list price of expansion board by $0.35

3. Memory Configuration
Populate Overo RAM at 128MB RAM: Reduce list price by $8.

4. Consulting Services & Custom Design
To help customers meet specific design requirements, Gumstix encourages custom expansion board design by:
  1. Posting schematics of every Gumstix expansion board under creative commons license at pubs.gumstix.com
  2. Making a list of companies available for consulting purposes that have been verified to have prior experience in Gumstix technology with their own customers.

Payment Schedule

Gumstix, Inc. requires prepayment on all volume orders.

  1. An "order confirmation payment" of 35% of the quoted total is required to confirm a volume quote into an order.
  2. Full payment of the order amount (the remaining 65%) is required prior to shipment from Gumstix in California, USA.
  3. Payments for volume orders may be made by wire transfer, only.
  4. Each volume order for Gumstix products is NCNR: "non cancellable, non returnable". Any payment made for a volume order is non-refundable

NOTE: Purchase orders are not accepted. Customers wanting to make a volume purchase with payment terms may wish to contact a Value Add Reseller

Order Lead Time

  1. Typically 6-8 weeks from the date on which Gumstix receives the order confirmation payment for a volume order, the order will be ready to ship.
  2. This order lead time is subject to availability of parts and components from our suppliers.
  3. Delivery times are dependent on the delivery service provided by UPS and any applicable issues in Customs for non-US destinations.

US Government CCR registration

  1. For US government purchases that require CCR registration of the vendor, you may wish to contact our 3rd party resellers. Gumstix is not a CCR registered company.

ECCN

  1. ECCN, stands for Export Control Classification Number. An ECCN is an alpha-numeric classification used in the Commerce Control List to identify items for export control purposes from the United States.
  2. The Gumstix products are "NLR" for ECCN: no license required.
  3. As per note 1 of section 4A003 for "digital computers", the APP of the Gumstix does not exceed 0.75 Weighted TeraFlops (WT) in aggregation.
